Course Overview

This course provides participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to understand the structure, operations, terminology and safety expectations of the oil and gas industry, and apply the duty of care and safe-behaviour standards expected of workers entering oil and gas sites.

This LicensingTL course provides an industry induction for workers new to, or preparing to enter, oil and gas exploration and production worksites. It covers the upstream-to-downstream life cycle, key operations and technologies, the regulatory and licensing framework, and the primary hazards and risk controls used in the industry. The course is designed to complement WHS-licensed and site-specific training by grounding participants in the safety culture, duty of care and reporting expectations that underpin safe operations on oil and gas facilities.

  • Describe the oil and gas industry structure and typical field life cycle
  • Identify upstream, midstream and downstream operations and terminology
  • Recognise primary hazards and risks on oil and gas worksites
  • Apply duty of care, safety leadership and reporting expectations
  • Identify the key WHS legislation, standards and licensing frameworks that apply
