Course Overview
This course provides participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to safely operate empty container handling equipment (empty handlers, reach stackers and container forklifts) to lift, move and stack empty shipping containers in port, wharf and logistics environments.
This practical course equips participants with the skills, knowledge and supervised operating experience required to safely operate empty container handling equipment, including empty handlers used to lift, move and stack empty shipping containers. This course supports the WHS obligations of port, wharf and logistics operators for load-shifting, stability management and safe yard operations.
Course Topics
- • Conduct pre-start and routine checks on empty container handling equipment
- • Interpret load charts and assess container weight, centre of gravity and stability
- • Operate empty handlers safely
- • Lift, move, stack and retrieve empty containers in line with site procedures
- • Apply WHS safe working practices and respond to hazards in port and yard environments
